    97th Air Mobility Wing

Civic Leaders from Altus Oklahoma went on a very special tour in Little Rock Arkansas this week. In an effort to strengthen community ties and create a better understanding of the Air Force mission, the leadership of Little Rock Air Force Base greeted our civic leaders on the flight line.

Col. Brown - "We hosted the Mighty 97th from Altus Air Force Base, their civic leaders coming out, showcasing what they have at AETC with what we have here at team Little Rock, we have two AETC partners here at the 189th airlift wing as well as the 314th airlift wing, showing that the two mobility wings with an air education and training command have a lot of similarities but then we also have the 9th airlift group as well as the 19th airlift wing under air mobility command and air force reserve command."

The day was spent touring Little Rock Air Force Base, seeing the AETC training mission of C-130 pilots, explosive ordinance disposal, and the group experienced first-hand how it feels to fly aboard a C-130 J, while civic leaders from Little Rock rode in a C-17.

Brian Bush - "I think the civic leader tour is one of the most fun things I've gotten to do in this position because it gives you a chance to see other missions around the air force, we how there's so much to what our air force does for us as a nation so it's really neat to get to see what those other missions are and what other bases are doing. But even more than that, I think it's helpful for us as community leaders to see what other communities do for their airmen because anytime we can go out and see what they do to support their air force base it helps us learn a little bit."

At the end of a long day they hopped on a C-17 back to Altus with a greater understanding of the Air Force Mission. Reporting for the Mighty 97th, I'm Airman James Johnson.
