Every one hundred and twenty days the 5th Bomb Wing Maintenance team is required to wash and inspect the B-52 Stratofortress. The team of eleven Airmen start scrubbing and can take hours to complete the one hundred and sixty feet long and one hundred and eighty five feet wide B-52. A 5th Bomb Wing Crew Chief explains the importance of cleaning and inspecting the aircraft. “It just entails getting all the grease and any kind of containment off of there. The big thing is for the corrosion, we want to prevent the aircraft from getting corroded by washing off any debris.” After completing the wash the airmen inspect the aircraft very carefully to ensure the safety of the aircraft and future crew members. Reporting from Minot Air Force Base I’m A-1- C Izabella Sullivan.
