On the morning of July 14th, we stood with Coalition partners to commemorate French National Day. No one could have known just how relevant the words delivered by Second Lieutenant Emilien Jacquot on behalf of the French Detachment here at Al Udeid Air Base would be after the attacks that evening in France. Part of his message that day can be heard in this video.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the people of Nice, France. We will continue to stand firmly beside one of our oldest allies to deter, disrupt and defeat terrorists who threaten our values, freedoms and our way of life.
