The Louisiana National Guard participated in Vigilant Guard 2016 with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness to prepare for all-hazards response and emergency operations April 10-16. Vigilant Guard is a federally funded exercise that is supported by the National Guard Bureau and sponsored by the United States Northern Command. The overall exercise scenario will test the LANG’s response to a simulated Category 3 hurricane making landfall on the Louisiana coast. Includes soundbites from Lt. Col. Henry Capello, information operations and cyber planner for the Louisiana National Guard; Chief Warrant Officer 3 Furniss, commander 156th Army Band; Master Sgt. Timothy J. Groh, operations non-commissioned officer, 199th Leadership Regiment; Maj. Dorrie Staal, commander, 159th Fighter Wing Medical Group; Sgt. 1st Class Anthony Rome, non-commissioned officer-in-charge of the non-ambulatory lane of the decontamination team, 926th Mobile Augmentation Company; and, John Bel Edwards, Louisiana Governor.
