HON Katherine Hammack,
Assistant Secretary of the Army (Installations, Energy and Environment)
The United States Army joins our Nation in commemorating Earth Day.
The Army is committed to “Acknowledging the Past” by restoring Army lands and preserving cultural and historical resources.
We are returning our lands to beneficial conditions, protecting human health and the environment by cleaning up sites contaminated by our past practices.
Today, we steward more than 66,000 historic buildings, 82,000 archeological sites, and Native American sacred sites on 14 installations.
