Fort Riley, KS, observed Black History Month with an event at Riley's Conference Center on 17 February 2016. The K-State African Music and Dance Ensemble entertained with a musical selection, and 1st Infantry Division soldiers along with the 1st ID Band presented a poetry and musical tribute. Guest speaker was Dr. Beryl A. New, Principal, Highland Park High School, Topeka, KS.
