F-15E Strike Eagle Maintainers are awarded AFCENT Safety Awards and the Air Force Commendation Medal for their outstanding achievement during a ground emergency. The brake system failed spraying hydraulic fluid onto the hot landing gear causing a fire and prevented the F-15E from stopping. Weapons Airmen and Crew Chiefs, in a combined effort, put out the fire and stopped the aircraft before it crashed into a coalition aircraft.
