With nearly 28 years of service, Col. Buchanan flew his fini-flight on Feb. 6, 2016, here. He was the 301st Fighter Wing’s vice commander from September 2014 to February 2016. Over his career, he amassed over 3,620 flight hours (including 225 combat hours) flying the T-38A Talon, the F-16 Fighting Falcon Blocks B/C/& D and the F-22A Raptor. He is most proud of having his two kids grow up around the military, being married to his wife of 23 years and being a Distinguished Flying Cross recipient two months after 9 /11.
