The Judicial Proceedings Panel is an independent federal advisory committee tasked to conduct an independent review and assessment of military judicial proceedings for sexual assault offenses since Fiscal Year 2012, for the purpose of developing recommendations to Congress and the Secretary of Defense for improvements to such proceedings.
At this meeting, the Panel discussed a recently completed assessment of the Uniform Code of Military Justice conducted by the Military Justice Review group. The Panel also continued deliberations on issues relating to retaliation against individuals who report incidents of sexual assault within the military and continued its review of military justice data for sexual assault crimes and comparative sentencing schemes. The meeting concluded with time reserved for public comment.
