Amendola Air Force Base, 32nd Wing, Puglia (Italy)
Interview to Col. Andrea Argieri, Commander of 32nd Wing, the It.A.F. Wing endowed with Predator A+ and Predatore B RPAS.
He talks about the Wing’s tasks, the Predator’s capabilities and its contribution to Trident Juncture.
Interview to Col. Andrea Argieri:
“Hello. I’m Colonel Andrea Argieri. I’m the 32nd Wing Commander. Thirty second Wing has been the home of the Italian Predators, both Predator A and B for over a decade now. If you were to ask me what is the value that we bring to TJ15 with our RPAs, I could tell you that by having flown for over a decade some of the largest coalitions operations done by Italy, having a total of about 30,000 hours in the RPA business, and being at the forefront of airspace management, including flying together with the civilian aircraft, this is the kind of value that we bring to TJ15.

“For Trident Juncture 2015, the largest and most ambitious NATO exercise in the last years, our ISR assets bring a high valuable mission – persistence and S.A. (situational awareness). And when we talk about SA, we talk about multispectral SA we’re capable of both in the visual, infrared environments. Also, adding the capability of full motion video in real time. This, done by our RPAs, provides the ability of giving this kind of SA all the way from the trips on the ground over the highest level of chain of command. This combined with all the other assets is the capability that we provide to the exercise. “

“One final element we need to emphasize is airspace management. By being at the forefront of airspace management regulations, and innovations introduced during our operations on national soil, we have structured a system that enables us to employ together with other aircraft, including civilian aircraft, in a dynamic way in the overall airspace structure. In a nutshell, what is it that we bring to Trident Juncture 2015? ISR, persistence, excellence by being able to employ in every kind of weather, airspace management, and finally a great deal of experience totaled in over a decade of RPA operations.
