NATO partnerships and interoperability continue during Trident Juncture 2015 as Task Force 2-7 Infantry combined forces with Croatia to battle the opposition forces of the Spanish Army's Asymmetric Company during Military Operations on Urban Terrain, or MOUT, training on October 30th. 2-7 Infantry and the Croatian Army infiltrated a simulated hostile village by combining both Armies into multiple mounted and dismounted assault elements.
The Battalion-level assault allowed US and Croatian forces to adapt to and integrate with one another while facing a determined, tactically seasoned Spanish enemy threat. The training objective directed US & Croatian forces to clear the village of all enemy personnel while locating and securing a notional valued target who operated under Spanish protection.
Asymmetric Company used several smoke grenades, cover and concealment, and fortified fighting positions to try to slow the US/Croatian charge that focused on speed. The US/Croatian element used team and squad-sized dismount elements along with 2-7 Infantry's Bradley Fighting Vehicles' 25mm and 7.62mm weapon capabilities as a security measure and surveillance asset to move throughout the village and eliminate their target.
NATO-aligned forces will continue interoperability training into next month as part of Trident Juncture, certifying NATO forces' capabilities to provide national security by evaluating mission planning and execution, and interoperability at the operational level. Trident Juncture 2015 features over 30,000 service members from more than 30 NATO and partner nations.
