U.S. Charlie Company 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry
Division conducted military planning with the Brisbane based 7th Brigade before conducting a
support by fire mission on Palmer’s Knob in Shoal Water Bay training
area. This was part of exercise Hamel which certifies the Australian Ready Brigade.
Exercise Hamel occurs every year and Hamel in 2015 coincides with the larger exercise
Talisman Sabre 15. The Talisman Sabre series of exercises is the principal Australian and
U.S. military training activity focused on the planning and conduct of mid-intensity
high-end war fighting. This year is the sixth time the exercise has been conducted and involves over
30,000 Australian and U.S. troops located in both Central Queensland and northern Australian.
