    Petty Officer 3rd Class Evan Thigpen, Coast Guard rescue swimmer at Air Station Elizabeth City (ASEC), North Carolina, rescues a practice survivor from the water Monday, June 29, 2015, near Jennette's Pier in Nags Head.

    Thigpen was nominated by the ASEC command to represent the Coast Guard at the 2015 North Carolina United Service Organization’s 10th Annual Salute to Freedom Gala for his life-saving actions in October and November in 2014.
