U.S. Pacific Command sends a military Joint Humanitarian Assistance Survey Team (HAST) of approximately 20 individuals to Nepal April 29 in support of the USAID's Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance's Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART). The team, led by Marine Brig. Gen. Paul Kennedy, commander of 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, from Bloomfield, Conn., will be assessing what unique capabilities of the U.S. military can add to the relief efforts, The team leaves equipped with supplies to include water, fuel, tents, sleeping cots, etc.
