GULF OF ADEN (April 22, 2015) USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) transits the Gulf of Aden. Iwo Jima is the flagship for the Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU), provides a versatile, sea-based expeditionary force that can be tailored to a variety of missions in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
