In 2013, Master Sgt. Matthew Deller tried to start a fire in his home fireplace, but a gas leak in the line created an explosion leaving him severely burned with an extremely low chance of survival. Donated blood and health care at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research saved his life. Army Sgt. P.J. Doran has the story.
