The crane owned by Donjohn Marine Co., Inc, is in place at the Black Rock Lock, Buffalo, NY and removes the two 80-ton intermediate lock gates.
The intermediate lock gates have not been used in over 40 years, since the installation of additional filling and emptying valves in the upper and lower operating gates. They are being removed because the gates have deteriorated over time and could become a hazard to navigation in the Black Rock Lock.
