Regional officials, including the President of San Martin, Peru, Javier Ocampo Ruiz, U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission, Lawrence J. Gumbiner, gathered in front of one of the three buildings which comprise the the search and rescue training facility and disaster relief warehouse in the city of Tarapoto, San Martin region of Peru, Thursday, July 31. These additional facilities were built to complement the already existing Emergency Operations Center, which was also built in 2010 by the U.S. Southern Command Humanitarian Assistance Program.
