B-Roll of German Air Force Staff Sgt. Patrick Rahmsdorf, a crew chief with the German Air Force Flying Training Center at Holloman AFB, marshals a German Air Force Tornado out of the hanger prior to its first live fly sortie in Bold Quest 14.2 on May 12. This Interdiction/Strike variant of the Tornado has been retrofitted with a state-of-the-art Interface Computer Unit that allows this legacy fighter to communicate with modern day joint terminal air controllers on the ground. Nearly 800 military and civilian personnel from eight partner countries have traveled to Holloman to test the real-world integration of their close air support equipment and personnel. Bold Quest 14.2 is the latest in its series and the first to be held in New Mexico. Previous events have been held in Indiana, North Carolina, Florida, Nevada, and Georgia, and internationally in Norway and the United Kingdom.
