DENVER - 4th Combat Aviation Brigade was recognized and awarded the Military Hero Award by American Red Cross at the Century of Champions Red Cross Ball at the Sheraton in downtown Denver, Colo., March 22, 2014. The CAB was presented the MHA for their lifesaving support in the 2013 Black Forest fires and the Boulder floods. They flew more than 913 missions and dropped 700,000 gallons of water during the Black Forest fires. They contributed to the largest airlift evacuation since hurricane Katrina in the Boulder floods. They also volunteered more than 560 hours outside of military operations to help with the recovery of the communities during both of the unfortunate disasters. The ball was a celebration of the Red Cross being in Colorado since 1914, and to recognize the dedication and support of its volunteers. CAB Soldiers in attendance to receive the award were: Maj. Eric Carlson, Capt. Alec Finlay, CW2 Brennan Avants and Sgt. Justin Hill.
