A Third Infantry Division Soldier recently had the opportunity to throw the first pitch at a Savannah Sand Gnats Baseball Game. Specialist April Walters, a combat medic with the 603rd Aviation Support Battalion, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, threw out the first pitch during the Savannah Sand Gnats opening game, April 3, 2014. Walters was named the 3rd Infantry Division Soldier of the Year in March of last year after undergoing a series of boards to test her tactical and technical knowledge. At the time, she was a member of the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team here at Fort Stewart.
