ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A ribbon cutting ceremony for Coast Guard Sector Anchorage’s move to the Alaska National Guard Armory at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will take place Friday. Available in high definition.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will be attended by JBER command members as well as federal, state, local and industry representatives.
The ceremony marks the transfer of Sector Anchorage operations to the new facility attached to the Alaska National Guard Armory. Sector Anchorage has the largest geographical area of responsibility within the Coast Guard and includes the Gulf of Alaska, the Bering Sea and the Arctic Ocean.
“This move presents an opportunity for the Coast Guard to build on our relationship with the state employees and military service members working on JBER,” said Capt. Paul Mehler III, commander, Sector Anchorage. “We look forward to forging an even stronger bond with our federal, state, local and tribal partner agencies as well as the maritime industry as we continue to serve the people of Alaska from this state of the art facility.”
