Multimedia package about the town of La Plata holding its annual “Celebrate La Plata” event April 27, 2013 in La Plata, Md. The bed race is a long-standing tradition in the community and it gives local organizations the opportunity to represent themselves and compete. The Maryland Army National Guard 253rd Engineer Company was represented by four Soldiers who were awarded second place.
The celebration is important to the community of La Plata the town was rebuilt after the damage caused by the worst tornado to hit Maryland in 2001. Also available in high definition
