Video by Airman 1st Class Aaron Hauser

    Nellis Air Force Base

Every generation has its heroes. Occasionally those heroes have to fight to keep their title. Betty Strofhus is one of those heroes. Betty served as a Women's Airforce Service Pilot, known as WASPs, during World War II. She was relieved from duty when she and over a thousand other WASPs were disbanded in December of 1944. Not one to back away from a fight, Betty fought to make the WASP's story known to the public so they could get the recognition they deserved as the Army Airforce's first female pilots. Also available in high definition.
