In 2011, the Missouri River basin experienced one of its wettest seasons and wettest years on record. The three-month runoff volume above Sioux City was greater than the total annual runoff in 102 of the 113 years in the historic record. During this time, the Corps, working with local officials under the authorities of Public Law 84-99 and the Flood Control Act, took measures to reduce flooding risks to the communities downstream of the reservoirs. Throughout the flooding event, public safety remained the Corps' number one priority.Available in High Definition.
