Spc. Thomas Atencio surprises his sons, Teylon, 6, and Thomas Jr., 5, on Jan. 9, 2012, while they attended class at Cole Elementary School in Cheyenne. Atencio returned from Afghanistan on Jan. 8, 2012, from an 11-month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he served with C Company, 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment (also known as Charlie Med).
