Members of the Iowa National Guard are assisting the Iowa Department of Transportation and Iowa State Patrol on Highway Assistance Teams (HAT) during a massive blizzard that moved through the Midwest February 1st and 2nd.
HATs provide emergency rescue and transportation to stranded motorists during times of excessive snow.
The Iowa National Guard posted 3 Highway Assistance Teams at key Department of Transportation sites to help motorists in need. Soldiers worked are working from facilities in Coralville, Mount Pleasant and Davenport, Iowa.
