Alexandria, VA (November 3, 2010) – The Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O), the annual workplace giving campaign for the Department of Defense (DoD), is pleased to announce the winners of the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) Public Service Announcements (PSA) Contest. This was the second year that CFO-O teamed with DoDDS Europe and Pacific and Armed Forces Network (AFN) to raise awareness about the CFC-O and to give youth in the DoDDS a chance to share the campaign’s key messages using their fresh perspective.

“Families play an integral role in overseas communities by supporting the servicemen and women who answered the nation's call to duty,” said Renée S. Acosta, President and CEO of Global Impact, which manages the CFC-O. “This competition is also a tool to teach the next generation of leaders how they could make a difference in their military communities and around the world.”

The winners of the 2010 contest are:

    • First Place: Wiesbaden American High School (Germany)
    • Second Place: Seoul American High School (Korea)
    • Third Place: Ramstein High School (Germany)

Ryukyu Middle School (Japan) and Wiesbaden High School (for a second video submission) received honorable mentions.

Seventeen schools across the European and Pacific Commands submitted a total of 51, 29-second videos that were posted online for a public vote from 18-28 October. More than 5,000 viewers and voters responded to the PSA contest. AFN will air the top PSAs later this month.

The 2010 CFC-O runs from 4 October to 3 December. Find our more at www.cfcoverseas.org or from your local area CFC-O representative.
