U.S. Army soldiers with Alpha Company, 3-501st Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Armored Division Combat Aviation Brigade; U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division; and a U.S. Border Patrol agent, all assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, conduct a night aerial response flight near Campo, Calif., on July 16, 2026. The team utilized night vision capabilities to maintain situational awareness while responding to an alert of suspected illegal activity along the U.S.-Mexico border. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
