    Currently, less than 20 percent of Afghans in the force are functionally literate. This means that more than 80 percent cannot read written orders or write reports.

    Twenty-two soldiers of the Romanian Army were honored at Camp Phoenix March 29, 2014, as the wrapped up their mission of help train members of the Afghan National Army at the camp. It also marked the 10-year anniversary of Romania becoming a member of NATO. Romania continues to play a vital role for NTM-A and in Operation Enduring Freedom.

    The Afghan National Army officers selected 37 officers from across the country for the first ever Combined Arms Training course at the Consolidated Fielding Centre (CFC) on Feb. 5, 2014. The course was organized by mentors from NTM-A, in partnership with the ANA Training and Education Command and brought together officers from the rank of major to colonel in order to improve their knowledge of combined arms operations and capability integration.
