The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron “Hurricane Hunters” assisted the Naval Oceanographic Office by dropping profiling floats from their C-130 Hercules aircraft during the Atmospheric River Recon Flights project.
In celebration of the U.S. Navy’s 246th birthday, the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO), based at Stennis Space Center, sent teams of military and civilian personnel out into the community to give back on Oct. 15. More than 20 volunteers from the Navy command teamed up with Mississippi Coastal Cleanup to collect dozens of bags of trash and recyclable items from the beach near Jones Park in Gulfport, Miss.
