Korps Mariniers with the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps utilize Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point’s training areas, Bombing Targets 9 and 11, to conduct live-fire, sea-to-sea and sea-to-shore training. The live-fire exercise allowed the Korps Mariniers to hone skills of firing boat mounted machine guns off fast-raiding interception and special forces craft and enabled the unit to maintain its mission readiness. MCAS Cherry Point’s outlying fields and bombing targets facilitate critical training that exercises interoperability and joint operations, not only within the Department of Defense, but also among NATO allies and partners.
