Air Force Master Sgt. Gracie Piehl wasn't sure of which direction to aim as a young woman, but she knew she wanted a hand in her destiny. With determination, hard work and encouragement from two Reserve chief master sergeants, she found home was closer than she imagined.

Capt. Jared Wahleithner and 1st Lt. Chris Dempsey were enjoying the last weekend of the summer, when they looked up and saw a seaplane headed for disaster. Luckily, for those aboard the aircraft that crashed at Clear Lake, California, on Sept. 17, 2016, the Citizen Airmen were nearby and well prepared to help.
