# U.S. Chemical Weapons Stockpile Destroyed
The Program Executive Office, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives, known as PEO ACWA, oversaw the safe and environmentally compliant destruction of the remaining 10% of the declared U.S. chemical weapons stockpile, in compliance with the Chemical Weapons Convention treaty commitment date of 30 September 2023. The U.S. Army Chemical Materials Agency (now Activity) previously destroyed the other 90% of the nation's stockpile. Destruction of the chemical weapons stored at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Kentucky was completed in July 2023 at the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant, or BGCAPP, and destruction of the chemical weapons stored at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot in Colorado was completed in June 2023 at the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant, or PCAPP.
PEO ACWA, headquartered at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, is responsible for the safe and environmentally compliant closure of the Colorado and Kentucky destruction facilities, scheduled to finish in 2028. The U.S. Army has confirmed the absence of chemical agent liability at both sites. When the closure phase is complete, the PEO ACWA program will end, and the organization will no longer exist. All program offices are now at minimal staffing as closure is well underway.

## Management Information
ACWA selected the Bechtel Pueblo Team, known as BPT, in Colorado and Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass, known as BPBG, in Kentucky as the systems contractors for the destruction projects in those states.
