Spc. Shankar Nigram, a medic with 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division, knows about the dangers of losing someone to suicide. His close friend indicated to Nigam an intention to harm himself. Although he made an attempt, Nigam was able to get his friend help to prevent his attempt from being successful. Nigam recounts this painful event, but provides a warning to everyone on what to look for when a friend or colleague is struggling and how we can be advocates for those in greatest need.
