NORFOLK –Lt. Gen. John Paxton relinquished command of Marine Corps Forces Command and Fleet Marine Forces Atlantic to Brig. Gen. W. “Blake” Crowe in a succession to command ceremony aboard Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads Dec. 13.

Paxton moves on from MARFORCOM after six months to assume his next position as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps.

“It has been an honor and privilege to be here,” said Paxton. “I wish I could have stayed six years instead of six months but I look forward to working with you and supporting you in my next position, and I’m turning you over to a great commander.”

Crowe is expected to fill the position as commander of MARFORCOM and FMFLANT until a replacement is nominated and confirmed.

“It’s a great honor to be here; I’m happy to be here,” said Crowe. “We have an outstanding team here and I look forward to working with them.”
