FORT HOOD, Texas - The 4th Sustainment Brigade Color Guard represented Fort Hood at an annual Christmas Parade held in Temple Dec. 3.
Thousands of people lined East Adams Ave. as nightfall approached to witness the holiday tradition. Once the clock struck 6:30 p.m., the parade began, led by the 4th Sustainment Brigade Color Guard.
Spc. Robert Griswold said the color guard had a multitude of reasons to participate in the parade.
“Typically, we’ll come out to help with Army to civilian relations, show off the 4th Sustainment Brigade color guard, show off how good we look, and have a good time,” Griswold said.
Griswold, one component of the five-man team who walked the 1.5-mile parade route, was excited for his role in the holiday celebration, he said.
“I hold the United States Army colors,” Griswold said. “It means a lot. I love and support the Army all the way, and for me to hold the Army colors, I love it.”
Sgt. Derrick Morris, noncommissioned officer in charge of the color guard, was excited for the opportunities lent to his section, he said.
“This is a really big event. For us to be out here, it’s good for us and the Army,” said Morris, who coordinated with Temple officials to make the night possible. “We are getting recognized for the stuff we do. It’s a great event.”
The parade was just another example of soldiers from the Great Place reaching out to the local community to help strengthen the bond shared between the Fort Hood family.
