US Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, release Operations Photograhy Contest Winners

FORT WORTH, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District announced Tuesday at the Commander’s Operations Field Conference held at Georgetown Lake the winners of the 2012 Operations Photography Contest.

Judging took place in October with photographs judged in the following categories: facilities – development/construction/maintenance, Natural Resources Management, problem areas – erosion, vandalism, crowding, dangerous conditions, low-water or flood conditions, etc. and recreation. The contest was open to Corps Operations Division personnel and the pictures had to be taken at Fort Worth District lakes or facilities or while on temporary duty in a Fort Worth District activity or mission and be taken during the 2012 fiscal year.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our Operations Division people to provide photographs that will be used to promote our lakes and missions, both within and outside the corps,” stated Operations Division Chief Charlie Burger when he welcomed those who volunteered to be judges.

More than 150 pictures were submitted with the winners in each category being Lynn Larue for facilities and special events, Rob Jordan for Natural Resources Management, James Chamber for problem areas, Elizabeth Anderson for recreation and scenic, Sam Gramlich for volunteers, John Hamilton for water safety and Justin Berndt for wildlife. Grand Prize winner for the second year is Elizabeth Anderson.
