Dyer to appear in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, D.C. - Meshelle Lemon Dyer, daughter of BJ Yoder, of Las Vegas, is slated to perform for more than 53 million spectators as part of the United States Air Force Honor Guard Parade Flight’s appearance at the 86th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Nov. 22 in New York City.

Senior Master Sergeant Dyer, who was recently selected for promotion to Chief Master Sgt., the Air Force’s highest enlisted rank, joined the United States Air Force Honor Guard in June 2012, where she represents Airmen all across the service to the American Public and the world as a ceremonial guardsman.

“It is an honor and a privilege to represent the men and women of the world’s greatest Air Force,” said Dyer. “I am excited to display the dedication and discipline the Air Force has instilled in me to my friends and family.”

The parade begins at 9 a.m. East Coast time, and will be broadcast on many television stations.

Located at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, D.C., the United States Air Force Honor Guard has leads the way as representatives of all Airmen serving around the world. The men and women of the honor guard represent every member, both past and present, of the U.S. Air Force.

Now, as one of the Air Force's oldest organizations, the honor guard continues to serve the Chief of Staff of the Air Force as the face of the Air Force to the American and global public.

Airmen of every enlisted rank and both company and field grade officers volunteer and are competitively selected from their peers in more than 200 different Air Force career fields, to serve in the United States Air Force Honor Guard, making the honor guard the standard for discipline and military professionalism.
