Cannon celebrates 65 years with Air Force Ball

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. – More than 400 people attended the Air Force Ball to celebrate 65 years of Air Force history at the Civic Center in Clovis, N.M., Sept. 15.

The ball is an annual Air Force-wide tradition to celebrate the heritage and history of the Air Force.

The evening included a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action tribute from members of Cannon’s Honor Guard, a traditional cake cutting and a drill demonstration from the Air Force Academy’s Saber Team.

Col. Buck Elton, 27th Special Operations Wing commander, closed out the formal portion of the evening with a speech recapping 65 years of Air Force history. His speech also included recognition of a few Air Commandos who exhibited acts of valor during various deployments.
