LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers will conduct a public meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 30, at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Clubhouse, 331 Clinton Road, in Conway, to provide information on the proposed plan for land that was formerly part of Camp Robinson located north of Highway 89 and east of Clinton Road.
Although not currently part of Camp Robinson, this area was historically used for infantry troop training until the end of World War II.
A Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study were performed to characterize the nature and extent of munitions hazards and to assess the risk to human health and the environment. Several alternatives were considered for addressing the identified residual risks. A proposed plan was developed to present the preferred alternatives and to solicit public input. The reports and proposed plan are available for review at the Mayflower Library, 6 Ashmore Drive, Mayflower, Ark.
At the public meeting, representatives from the Corps of Engineers and their contractors will present a summary of findings and recommendations and will be available to answer questions. Anyone living on or owning land within the former Camp Robinson is encouraged to attend.
