Weapons and narcotics captured in Helmand province

HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Counter narcotics department’s police conducted operation on Friday in the belonging areas of Gereshk district of Helmand.

As a result of the conducted operation police captured 81 kilograms poppy placed in vehicle named Saracha.

Two persons were arrested with the possession of the captured narcotics and are under the investigation at the moment.

The same day late afternoon one terrorist wanted to manufacture an IED (improvised explosive device) in Shakar Shaily area, Sangin district of Helmand province and two children who were studying Holy Quran in the Mosque were watching him while manufacturing the IED.

As a result the IED exploded and killed both the children and the IED manufacturer terrorist at the same place.

At the same day Friday afternoon explosive which were placed on the back of donkey, was detonated near to the ANCOP police checkpoint in Kajaki district of Helmand province.

Fortunately no damage has been received to the police as a result of the explosion.

Also NDS personnel for Helmand province conducted several operations in Lashkar Gah, Nad-e-Ali, Garamsir and Sangin district during the last one week.

As a result of the operation and searches of the NDS personnel, two terrorists and some weapons and ammunitions were captured.
The weapons and ammunitions that the NDS’s personnel captured included; 11 machine guns, one RPG, three 303 cyber rifles, fifty kilograms explosives and one IED.

The arrested persons are under the investigation at the moment.
