CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait - Country music singer Kellie Pickler performed for approximately 1,300 service members and civilians at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, May 26.
Pickler, a former American Idol competitor, is participating in her fifth USO tour performing for deployed service members.
“Just being able to say thank you face-to-face and make eye contact with someone; that’s a big deal for me,” said Pickler.
The former American Idol contestant says she likes to show her appreciation for the troops by performing for them when they are deployed.
“To be in a position where I can bring a little piece of home to you guys, I take advantage of that,” said Pickler. “I hope that everyone knows we are back home praying for you. I am praying for you and your families.”
Pickler comes from a military family and says she has a great respect for the men and women serving their country.
“I think it takes a very, very special person to do what you guys do,” said Pickler.
The performer will continue her tour throughout several countries in Southwest Asia.
Performances like the Memorial Day weekend concert at Camp Arifjan gives celebrities like Pickler the opportunity to give back and show their support to those serving our country.
“By far out of everything I have ever been a part of in my life, this has been truly the most rewarding thing.”
The opportunity to attend events like the Kellie Pickler USO concert allows Third Army soldiers to de-stress in order to be ready tonight.
