NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Nashville District in conjunction with several state and federal agencies are encouraging the public to think safety first and observe National Safe Boating Week, May 19-25.

Dedicating the entire week proceeding Memorial Day weekend to water and boating safety education outreach, Carolyn Bauer, natural resource specialist, said, “Park Rangers are staffing exhibits, doing programs, and blitzing area lakes with boating and water safety information.”

One of the many ways Park Rangers are providing boating and water safety information is inviting the public to participate in the third-annual Ready, Set, Wear It! life jacket world record event, Saturday, May 19.

Previously named Ready, Set, Inflate, this international event is designed to gather participants to set a world record for the most life jackets worn and inflatable life jackets inflated, as well as, raise awareness of life jacket wear and general boating safety.
