Air Force general selected for command of DLA Energy

FORT BELVOIR, Va. - The Defense Department has announced the selection of Air Force Brig. Gen. Giovanni Tuck as the next commander of Defense Logistics Agency Energy.

Tuck currently serves as commander of 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Air Combat Command, Southwest Asia. This composite wing includes various assets that support Operation Enduring Freedom and Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. The wing provides support to more than 11,000 Air Force, joint and coalition forces.

Tuck graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is a command pilot with more than 4,600 flying hours and has served in numerous supervisory and leadership positions, including aide to the deputy commander of U.S. Transportation Command; commander of 905th Air Refueling Squadron at Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D.; and commander of 15th Airlift Wing at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

Prior to his current assignment, Tuck served as the executive officer to the vice chief of staff of the Air Force, where he was responsible for coordinating with Headquarters Air Force, the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force Staff, the Joint Staff, the Department of Defense and other governmental agencies. Tuck has deployed supporting operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
