SEOUL, South Korea - Special Operations Command Korea and Republic of Korea Special Warfare Command service members participated in a combined “friendship” jump March 15.
Approximately 30 SOCKOR service members and 60 Republic of Korea Special Warfare Command soldiers made the jump on a cool, sunny afternoon at the Misari Drop Zone located in an eastern suburb of Seoul.
These jumps – static-line parachute jumps out of fixed or rotary-wing aircraft – typically occur biannually.
“Training with our U.S. partners means a lot to me,” said Col. Young Cho of the 123rd Signal Group, Republic of Korea Special Warfare Command. “Camaraderie builds relationships and it was very meaningful to have this opportunity. I hope we have many of these types of training events in the future.”
Once complete, the jumpers conducted an exchange of their respective jump wings. American service members are authorized to wear the Korean jump wings on their uniforms once qualified.
