BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces killed three insurgents and detained 14 suspected individuals in eastern Afghanistan during operations throughout the past 24 hours, Jan. 13.
Afghan National Police killed three insurgents during an arms battle in Dilah Wa Khosha district, Paktika province. After the engagement, an injured insurgent was detained and brought to a local facility for medical attention.
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces arrested 10 suspected insurgents during a tactical callout in Shinwar district, Nangarhar province. The detainees were safely brought to a local compound for questioning.
Afghan Uniform Police officers arrested two individuals who were in possession of AK-47s and ammunition in Behsud district, Nangarhar province. The detainees were safely transported to a nearby facility for confirmation.
Coalition forces detained one suspicious individual after he was found video recording their convoy in Maidan Shahr district, Wardak province. The detainee was safely transported to a nearby base for questioning.
Coalition forces had two unmanned aerial vehicles crash due to engine failure - one in Khowst district, Khowst province and one in Pul-e Alam district, Logar province. Both UAVs have been recovered.
Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
