While in Afghanistan the 1982nd FST worked as a critical surgical asset, providing urgent surgical care prior to evacuation to higher treatment facilities. Tirelessly aiding the most severely wounded of American soldiers, the 1982nd FST worked through mass casualty events, performing hundreds of surgeries and saving the lives of numerous service members.
