Combined forces operations kill 3, detain 1

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces killed three insurgents, detained one suspected individual and seized two weapon caches in eastern Afghanistan during operations over the past 24 hours, Nov. 2.

A coalition airstrike killed three insurgents after troops positively identified them emplacing an improvised explosive device in Khogyani district, Nangarhar province.

Coalition forces detained an individual wanted for questioning in Tirzaye district, Khowst province. He was safely transported to a nearby headquarters for questioning.

Insurgents killed four Afghan civilians when an IED detonated in Sayidabad district, Wardak province.

Afghan National Army troops with 6th Kandak, 203rd ANA Corps, seized 62 x 82 mm rounds, 24 x 107 mm rocket igniters, 10 mortar igniters, seven 107 mm rockets and a bucket of ammunition in Qara Bagh district, Ghazni province. Coalition engineers conducted a controlled detonation on portions of the cache after they determined it was too dangerous to transport. ANA safely transported the rest of the seizure to a nearby base.

ANA troops with 4th Kandak, 203rd ANA Corps, and coalition forces seized a weapons cache consisting of homemade explosive materials and a smoke grenade. ANA transported the seizure to a nearby base.

Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
