CAMP WALKER, South Korea - The 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command held a Safety Stand-Down Day at Walker Chapel, Oct. 7.
All major subordinate commands of the 19th were ordered to complete the training prior to the Columbus Day holiday. The theme of the day was prevention of sexual assault.
“To stop sexual assault is all of our responsibility,” said Sgt. 1st Class Marnoch, 19th ESC sexual assault response coordinator.
The purpose of the training is to give soldiers the tools to act appropriately and be responsible representatives for the United States.
The training coincided with the announcement of a new curfew policy for military personnel in South Korea. The curfew is in effect from 0001 until 0500 Sunday night through Friday morning, and from 0300 to 0500 on Friday night, Saturday, Sunday morning and U.S. observed holidays (U.S. observed holidays include U.S. national holidays, USFK training holidays and U.S. observed South Korean holidays).
“We have to remember that we are not in the U.S. We have to respect the citizens of Korea”, said Col. Craig Cotter, 19th ESC, Deputy Commander, “We need to be responsible ambassadors for our country, our unit and mom and dad, whether here or in the U.S.,” said Cotter.
